The Trainer Review

# The Best Bits

They are sturdy, the look great and the wear isn’t as high as I would expect. For medium distance training, such as 30-40 miles per week this is great trainer, and it’s one of under armours specifically designed for runner rather than a casual trainer. The impact absorption and energy return is top quality.

The Charge Cushioning technology is superb. One of my favourite trainers is the Adidas Ultra Boost; their technology of super supportive cushioning was by far the best, until the UA Speedform. The Gemini trainer does a great job and has a wide fit.

The rubber cup around the heal supports the foot and stops it from moving around without the pain or rubbing you get with other shoes.

Try running barefoot. They are so comfortable for short runs, just be weary if you have thin feet, this is a fat foot shoe.

# What they’re good for

Medium road running. Although a hybrid trainer these are great on road and light weight non technical trails.

# What I’d improve

The flex groove i believe are un necessary These grooves designed to bend with your foot are still a little off the mark.

The UA brand needs to raise it’s game in terms of branding their trainer for a serious runner. These shoes can offer the equivalent to Asics or Mizuno etc etc.

The price is a little expensive, the trainers would out sell if a little cheaper.

Breathability is good but not great, a lighter material would make this shoe stand out.

The Spec of the shoe fits slightly smaller than usual fit. So ensure you by a half size bigger

# Why they’re different

The chip, is a great idea, no hassle and has picked up all my runs. I’m sure this technology will take off. Tracking your overall miles per trainer is what most serious runners do. I estimate these last around 380 miles. The downside is you can’t lend your shoes to anyone else, you don’t want them spoiling your stats.

# The conclusion

Overall trainer rating is 7/10.

The 3 drop marks are due to breathability, price, and the fact that the trainers only last about 400 miles tops vs some other brand which have surpassed 600 before wear affects the body.

Would I pay for this trainer YES

Would I recommend this trainer YES but only to beginner and intermediate runners.
