Day 54 – Tired, sore & so far still to run
Some quick stats: I’ve run 387.21km with 2612.79km remaining. This means I am exactly 48.45km behind my targeted distance needed to complete 3000km by Dec 31st. Although I can make this up over the year easily I’d like to be on target by the end of each month so it’s time for some serious running…
….but I have a cold, I’m incredibly sore from an epic skiing tip plus I’m generally run down from travelling and getting back to work (excuse the pun). My morning and evening runs consist of a slow plod at the moment with very little effort. I’m getting the miles in though and I have a plan to be back ahead of target by the beginning of March. Fingers Crossed.
On Day 52 I went for a nice slow plod for half marathon distance and ran a 1:41 – slow but not far of my target time of 1:30 so maybe the slight rest has done some good. We will see.
These last few weeks have been tough but significantly my trainers were officially replaced. I could no longer run on a sole that was so thin. R.I.P Salomon Ski Cross – Hello Sacony Triumph’s. Let’s get running.
I’ll be reviewing them in a few months once they have started to wear out. I am however anxious to run on non trail shoes. The grip will be different no doubt. Maybe it will be a good excuse to buy another pair sooner rather than later.
News of events are starting to get exciting – I allowed myself a gentle beginning to the year but now towards March I have numerous events that will test my legs staying power.
Garmin Race Your Pace Half Marathon and Bath Half are my next two events one after the other this coming weekend. 28th Feb & 1st March. Two events back to back will give me a good boost and may even shake this cold I have. As for times I’m hoping for a sub 1:30 but likely to be around the 1:35 mark.
